PENGANTAR
Kemajuan teknologi informasi khususnya sejak pertengahan tahun 90-an telah membawa pengaruh yang sangat besar pada tatanan dunia. Arus informasi dan mobilitas manusia sudah semakin sulit dibatasi. Fenomena tersebut juga memberi pengaruh terhadap penggunaan bahasa sebagai alat utama dalam berkomunikasi, baik secara langsung maupun tidak langsung.
Realitas diatas menjadi peluang sekaligus tantangan bagi seorang calon dan atau guru bahasa inggris dalam meningkatkan profesionalitasnya sebagai pedidik.
Menyikapi fenomena diatas, Himagris (Himpunan Mahasiswa Bahasa Inggris) akan menyelenggarakan seminar pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris.

ENGLISH RELATIONSHIP OF SUMATERA
(SEC-EROS)












“Build up Togetherness and Smarts through English Improvisation”



THE COMPETITIONS

1.    DEBATE
A competition where two opposing teams bring arguments of their own to motion. The format in this competition is Asian Parliamentary System. Each them consist of 3 speakers who will carry out a 7 minutes speech each, continued with a 3 minute reply speech. The purposes of this competition are to stimulate critical thinking, developing skill in delivering good and structured argument, to widen knowledge in various field, to integrate the spirit of a healthy competition in every participant.

2.    NEWS CASTING
This is an individual competition where the participants are required to read the news chosen by the committee, just for professional anchors do. It also consist the weather forecast. The purpose of this competition is to enhance the importance of speaking English in a well manner, also to find potential as well as talented future news presenters.

3.    STORY TELLING
An individual competition where the participants will tell a story given by the committee with their own method and style. Participants are encouraged to use performance tools like pictures, costumes, puppets, or other things that support their story. The aim of this competition is to boost up the confidence, imagination, expression, and the ability to tell a story fluently and as interesting as possible.

4.    SPEECH
An individual competition where the participants are required to give a speech based on the essay they wrote before. After giving speech for maximum 7 minutes, they will be asked questions based on their essay or speech. The aspects judged are the content of speech, grammar, usage, pronunciation, mimic, and their way of presenting the speech. The aim of this competition is to raise self-confidence and to develop the ability to write their ideas and convey it orally.
   
5.    SCRABBLE
It is a word game in which two to four players score points by forming words from individual lettered tiles on a game board marked with a 15-by-15 grid. The words are formed across and down in crossword fashion and must appear in a standard dictionary.The game contains 100 tiles, 98 of which are marked with a letter and a point value ranging from 1 to 10.

Technical Meeting will be held after Opening Ceremony at Ruang Rapat Rektorat, University of Bengkulu.

Rules, motion, and topics for the competitions will be sent via e-mail. You are also welcome to send us any e-mail via sec_eros@ymail.com.

For further information on registration, please call your responsible committee.

ACCOMMODATION (for participants outside Bengkulu)

The committee is able to arrange the accommodation for participants coming from outside Bengkulu, with responsibility for the payment upon the participants, excluded from the registration fee. Please specify the place, time, and date of your arrival at least 2 (two) days before the arrival. Accommodation will be placed at Asrama PGSD FKIP UNIB.
Fee     :     Rp. 250.000,-/person/night (including breakfast, lunch, and dinner)
·   Each room will contain people (women and men are separated) from various institutions, arranged by the committee.
·   Families/teachers/coaches will be separated from the participants and joined families/teachers/coaches from other institutions.
·   The committee will not return the accommodation fee if participant decides to cancel the accommodation after the place has been booked.
·   The number of rooms the committee provides is limited.

EROS – ENGLISH RELATIONSHIP OF SUMATERA

EROS English Relationship of Sumatera is the event for the participants to gather, socialize, and have some fun. They will be entertainment, games, door prize, etc. The EROS will be held at:
